new shirt for etsy shop

I love shopping at Mood Fabrics here in L.A. The people that work there are great (Norah!), and the material is outstanding. I guess the shop, especially the NYC location is famous for being the go-to fabric source for Project Runway. So, I was there last week, for hours, and I thought I had seen every roll of fabric in the linen section when this roll appeared. It was buried deep. Norah, and I were kind of jumping up and down when we saw it. It's a linen/wool/rayon/metal space plaid. It's brown, and cream, and the metal thread going through it is fine copper. Pretty amazing.

Wonders with Wood - Etsy of the Week

A beautiful, hand turned, and carved coffee scoop made of Ash. Purchased from Etsy shop Wonders with Wood. The maker of this scoop is a man by the name of Ray Cole. This simple scoop holds the perfect amount of grounds for a good sized cup of coffee. Now, every morning, hanging on it's nail, waiting to be used for it's intended purpose, is this lovely scoop. I love it! Thank you, Ray. Please, check out his shop for these scoops, some very beautiful bowls, and the "delightful spatulas".

Owen

Today is my brother's birthday. Happy Birthday Capt. Owen Barton Dorr! See that Schooner above? That Schooner belongs to Owen, and Cathie (his lovely wife). They have this magnificent Schooner, and they sail around the Penobscot Bay from Memorial Day - Columbus Day. It's their livelihood, they take passengers out for mostly week long, sometimes three day trips. Sailing around the coast of Maine for a week is so gorgeous, and relaxing. They sail to a new anchorage every night, and you can explore little islands, or towns. There's a Lobster Bake on a rocky beach. My brother Paul is the cook, and that is so incredibly special because he is the real deal. Paul, and Cathie are planning the garden for this season's vegetables. Wild Blueberry Pancakes! Haddock Chowder! Owen , and Cathie have two small boys that are full of energy, too. I don't know how they do it all, I know it's tough, but that's the dream coming true part.
I love you Owen! Happy Birthday!

last week

We had a great visit with our super best pals last week. Trey, and Siobhan. They stayed at the Roosevelt hotel in Hollywood. Frances loved it! She and Trey were in the pool, and looking at warrior cats on the computer, and jumping on the bed. Siobhan was working the whole week, so we didn't get to hang out with her that much. We miss you!
