opening weekend

here is an image of the 64 dining room. it's very pretty during the dinner time, candles everywhere, and good music playing. the bar is beautiful with old heavy wood and a large mirror. the space was originally the island drugstore, and the walls are all drawers, and mahogany panels, tin ceiling.
so, friday night we opened, and i was feeling pretty rusty. we got a bit of a slam right off the bat, and food was coming out a bit slow. no complaints about that as everyone was having such a good time. saturday night was lively, and the pace was perfect with two-tops coming in, then some larger parties, then by the end of the evening the place was all full with people sitting at their tables enjoying wine, food and conversation, laughing, and the bar was a few folks deep. it was magical.

an adult MEG dress, with on-seam pockets. i can't say enough about how lovely this fabric is. it's a navy with white chalk stripe wool flannel, medium weight from an american heritage fabrics company. really amazing. going to barbara for the shop!

clear day

cold, and clear here. i went out for a walk. thought i would clear my head. next weekend is the re-opening of 64, a restaurant on vinalhaven. open friday and saturday nights... i'm cooking. it will be great to be in a kitchen again! looks like my 3 interests are converging - food,clothes,shelter. cool.

happy new year everyone!

looks like i fell off the planet for the month of december. we have been trying to put our house in order these past few weeks (the new title image is the dining room table), as well as enjoy the holidays, visit with family, and participate in many community happenings. i hope january is more steady, less roller coaster. it's all coming together.

this dress is from fabric that is extraordinarily beautiful. i thought i didn't have any left. i had made a marais skirt out of it, and then i must have hid it away. it showed up while unpacking.
