new dress

i'm very happy with the way this dress turned out! good off the body shape, length is lower thigh in front, and a bit shorter in the back.

this week

an adult version of the dress that was made for children. i'll be making these in various fabrics for the etsy shop this week.
this is a light, open weave linen.

meg

a little something for meg.

Friday, November 13

more pleats, more tucks

a white linen skirt with a white linen overshirt meant for considerable layering (on etsy). the navy chalkstripe jacket is something i am working on for chelliswilson.
life has become so busy. who knew living 20 miles out in the bay would result in so much activity. people heard i can sew. so, i am working with the Vinalhaven Players on their costumes for "The Gift of the Magi". frances is working in the props department, and d. is helping build sets! there's another project on the horizon involving some cooking... we're busy! it's good. sun sets at 4:30, and the stars are shining bright by 5pm.

Friday, October 30

more clothes taped up on the wall

more pieces for chelliswilson! some easy skirts in beautiful fabrics. the solid grey cotton has a gorgeous woven pattern/texture to it, and it's soft and kind of heavy (drape and movement). the stripe is a silk/cotton, grey blue, gold, and beige. all skirts have pockets, and are above the knee. the one tuck shirt is over the grey skirt. i have some more one tuck items to make, and a couple jackets. i'm sewing, sewing, sewing.
AND looking forward very much to Friday November 6th, at chelliswilson - an art show curated by Maria of (3191, and Port2Port Press). Looks to be a very fun evening!

now, to make frances's halloween costume - goddess of the harvest.
see you tomorrow-

Thursday, October 29

i had a small piece of this material left from when it was for the broad shirt.
there's some new things over at chelliswilson - one tuck shirts, one tuck dresses and skirts. all made from soft italian wool, charcoal, super 120. take a look! www.chelliswilson.blogspot.com i've been very busy sewing up that order, and there's more to come! the cool thing is, is i'll be able to post decent looking images of what is being made for chelliswilson. thank you to Gabe! she is allowing me the use of her computer, and digi camera. i'm back!
life has been great on the island, and i can't wait to take pictures, and post. the autumn is still hanging on, and the wind howls at night. there's been ice in the bucket.
see you tomorrow -

past few days

vinalhaven - nyc - vinalhaven. super fast trip to source fabric for chelliswilson pieces. frances and trey hung out for a day, and then we went to see Ponyo, and had some dinner. i can't wait to get back to nyc to see more friends!

yesterday

i took the 7am ferry to the mainland yesterday, and drove down to Portland to meet up with Barbara at chelliswilson. we had a great constructive, creative, collaborative talk
about clothing for her shop for fall/winter (and future events!). some good pieces that everyone needs. skirts in many fabrics. she has ordered some incredible indigo wool, and a soft ivory silk/wool twill. i can't wait to make a slip dress out of the silk/wool. this will all compliment what she has from FOG linen work, and Pip-Squeak Chapeau (etc.), very nicely. maybe soon we'll have another evening at her shop with music, and prosecco. stay tuned.

that picture above is the empty ferry cabin. i love the colors. grey, cream, brown, crazy green, and brick red. if you start seeing these colors in some new clothes, you know i've been inspired by the ferry!
